Bio

Across the Rocky Mountains and Denver front range, Kelly Aspen’s exceptional vocal ability, intense songwriting and never-ceasing passion have established her as a successful international artist, but it’s her outgoing spirit and love for the fans that have gained her the reputation as “Colorado’s Country Sweetheart”.  A native Texan, Kelly was literally moved by the music when her mother fell in love with Colorado, inspired by the songs of John Denver.  Kelly's trademark sound is innocent yet sensual, dynamic in range and full of character richness.  Her album and live show will move and energize you.

Kelly's album is a mix of mainstream, new country with bluegrass and rock influences.  She's drawn to complex musical productions that encompass the acoustic country sounds of the banjo, mandolin and dobro; a sound that her Nashville producer Ilya Toshinsky (former Bering Strait member) brought to life in her 2007 album release titled “Chasing Butterflies” with cuts from hit songwriters including Billy Montana, Jamie O’Neal and Kris Bergnes.

Kelly's live show contains the best players Colorado has to offer.  She’s opened for major recording artists including Sara Evans, Kenny Chesney, Lonestar, Mark Wills, Phil Vassar, Pat Green, Ty England, Aaron Tippin, Chad Brock, Charlie Daniels Band and Blake Shelton.

Kelly graced the cover of “Colorado Music Buzz Magazine”, was the center spread story in “Vocals Magazine” and has been featured in countless editorials such as “The Westword”, “5280” and “Mile High Sports Magazine”.

Kelly’s been heard on nationally syndicated radio programs such as “A Prairie’s Home Companion” with Garrison Keillor on Public Broadcast Radio, “The Conman Radio Show” on Jones Media Network, and regionally receives regular airplay and support from Denver’s KYGO, Big Country and K99.  Kelly recently had her original song “Crazy Like That” air on the Canadian t.v. hit “Heartland”, starred in the reality show “Shoot Colorado” on RMPBS, was a highlighted artist in “America's Honky Tonk’s” on the Discovery channel, was a contestant in “Fast Track to Fame” on Oprah’s “O” channel, has appeared in numerous commercial, and was named “Country's Next Big Star” on Denver's WB2 news.
